    Guinness Brown Bread

    Executive Chef Stephen Smith's Recipe

    Ingredients:

    • 300g wholemeal flour,
    • 40g oatmeal,
    • 1/2 tsp salt,
    • 20g Kerrygold Butter,
    • 100ml black treacle,
    • 75g plain flour,
    • 1.1/4 tbsp brown sugar,
    • 1.1/4 tsp bread soda,
    • 240ml milk,
    • 1/4 Guinness,
    • Mixed seeds/oats

    Method:

    • Preheat oven to 170C
    • Weigh out all dry ingredients in a bowl and rub in the butter until it resembles fine breadcrumbs
    • Add milk, black treacle and Guinness, mix to a wet sloppy batter.
    • Divide the batter between 2 well-greased 1lb loaf tins or 1x 2lb loaf tin, sprinkle on some oats or mixed seeds on top.
    • Bake at 170C for 40 minutes, remove from the oven and cool on wire rack.
