St. Patrick’s Day, a day where, regardless of your actual heritage, everybody becomes Irish. More than 70 million people around the world claim links to Ireland and St Patrick’s Day is a truly unique opportunity to reconnect them with their heritage. New York plays host to the biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the world as more than two million people gather annually for the city’s grand parade. The tradition of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in the U.S. dates back to 1762.
The Limerick St Patricks Day Festival 2022 will include the traditional St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Thursday 17 March and the Limerick International Band Championship which takes this year on Sunday 20 March. This year’s theme is Belonging and Identity, ideas which many people have been thinking about and discussing throughout the two years of enforced restrictions. Look out for creativity and colour as the streets are adorned for this wonderful festival
